"Dog" Companion

Did a quick search and found nothing about this, if it's a repost sorry.

During the quest "Walking Dog" in the dread wastes at Soggy's Gamble you get a quest companion (A sea lion) named Dog. I'm not sure exactly what caused it, but I can now take this companion anywhere in Pandaria without him despawning. It will assist you in combat, and looks pretty cool to have following you around. On a side note, while I did these quests involving Dog I did not resummon it at all, which some people may do to speed up the "Walking Dog" quest.

I'm sure someone can figure out how to recreate this.

Nice found, i have the Same with Ruthers A yak that follows you a while, dont have the quest Anymore but still the item.

Allthough he runs away after a little while

That's a reward from a quest, this is an unintended thing. After you leave the quest area he is supposed to despawn.

In Pandaria it is quite normal that quest items stay in your inventory after you handed the quest in. I am also able to summon the yak whereever I want, but it lasts just for about 20 seconds.

That's because it's a reward from the quest.

It is not a quest ITEM, it's a companion that gives you a quest, it follows you around. The item used to summon it is consumed when you turn the quest in, and it is supposed to despawn once you leave the water in the area.
