    Possible no range exploit/hack.

Alright. I think it MAY be possible to develop a hack or exploit to allow you to cast any spell at any distance from the target.
Some of you might say "BUT THAT IS HANDLED BY THE SERVER!!!". Guess what.. No its not! I've got a bug a few times while dual clienting..
Where my other character was WAY far away, when he was in fact right next to me.
I couldn't cast any spells on him, it said "Too far away". But he was RIGHT next to me.
So this PROVES that the client handles range!
My other character could cast spell on him, but I couldn't cast them on my other character. The map showed him to be far away.
So this PROVES that you can edit range.
I am currently working with Cheat Engine and a test account to find the range address. Ill let you guys know how it goes!

Pretty sure your one machine was lagging, hence your pc was communicating more slowly then it should...causing this error.
Happens a lot to me when my latency is rather high

    Nope
I could cast spell one from the other, but not the other way around.
So it has to be the client

Ive never thought of that but you just did prove your theory. But to make a cheat engine to do that you would have to change your numbers for every target to make Blizz think your close to them. And what if that target is moving id be near impossible to keep doing that.

its happened to me a few times , i would send my pet in and they would be way far away from eachother , the mob would be few yards away and the pet would stand next to me and when i tried shooting the mob it said to close , i moved away and killed it , but when i tried to loot the corpse it said i was to far away ..

    Re: Possible no range exploit/hack.

dude your a noob, its both Client and Server side, just so blizzard couldnt **** it up this time... just like which way the npc is facing, somtimes it says "You are facing the wrong way" and the NPC is right infront of you, but infact he's probably standing beside you. Oh and sometimes when the NPC glitches up, it can sometimes say "Your too far away" Server side (when you click the skill, it highlights, waits 1-2secs, then gives the error) im sorry my friend, but your wrong ='( if only some things in life were so simple, for everything else, theres MasterCard =D

    Re: Possible no range exploit/hack.

Sounds too good to be true. And the way this thread was presented (by a seemingly noobish person) makes it seem even less likely to work. I can't see it
    working. Ever.

Quote me, abuse me, I don't care.

Actually back around 1.12, I used CE to figure out how to auto follow anybody from any range. So maybe it is possible.

    Re: Possible no range exploit/hack.

    actualy you are wrong:

when you cast a spell, the client first checks to see if you are in range, to save server recources / it's faster

when the target is within range, it sends it to the server, which checks again

    so it wont work, period

    Re: Possible no range exploit/hack.

well, not to go too far off topic, but you are able to mellee a mob while running away from it, even if youre facing away from it and are 4 feet away, i found out justa few hours in netherstorm

So if this is correct then I was more or less correct as well. Pretty decent idea though, could have been a hardcore hack eventually

Well, range did used to be buggy. Remember you could Arcane Missile from litterally 100 yards+ away by switching targets.
