Pretty sure you don't get the bonuses from those gem slots though once you respec. It's like dual wielding for enhancement shaman. If you respec you still walk around holding both weapons yet you never attack with your offhand. Do you have any proof that you actually gain the stats from the 2 BS sockets?

Guess he found out that you need a certain blacksmithing level for the sockets to be active?

There's actually a bug from a while ago related to this.

If you had JC+BS and you put two JC-only gems in the BS sockets, then ditched BS, it would let you put new JC gems in different sockets. Then you told a GM to restore BS(or leveled it back up) and the BS sockets with the JC gems would become once again active.

Convoluted way to get 5 JC-only gems, but hey, a bug was a bug.

Not sure if it still works, but I never heard of it getting hotfixed. There was a thread on it way back.

I don't know if they fixed it but when I dropped BS for alchemy my bs sockets were active still. Sadly there were non-heroic blue items so I didn't get much use. And yes, I added up the stats and I was getting the benefits. (4.0.3)

Well IF its true and it does add up its good if you HAVE blacksmithing already but for the love of god dont drop somethign for BS because it will blatently be fixed pretty damn fast
