Greetings,
I searched for this but couldn't find a mention of this.
As many of you know that when you server transfer, some of the open-able items change their content, however, this is not what I'm suggesting to do.
Every client patch applied by Blizzard also does the same thing, despite being major or minor, both works as long as there's a client change. Now what you have to do, is keep doing whatever you were doing before to get those low drop rate items, however, you keep at least 1 useless item in the bag so it doesn't despawn. When the patch is applied, you'll see that you will get a full content bag with different loot than before.
I've done this in patch 3.2 and 3.3. I did this with both meat crates for the "Stormchops recipe" and with the Crocsilks in the city treasure bags for the pets. And I had about 16 bags in the process between patch 3.2 and 3.3, and I managed to get all 4 pets in the same day with the refreshed content of those bags (and increased drop rate ofc).
Note that those items are NOT unique, and you can collect multiple ones and save them till patch day.
This means you can double your chances of getting:
- Blue Sack of Gems: Reins of Blue Drake / Triumph badges
- Bag of Fishing Treasures: Crocsilks pets/The 2 Ring ((TESTED!))
- Bag of Fishing Treasures(Northrend): Strand Crawler/Bone/Jeweled Fishing Pole ((TESTED))
- Small Spice Bag: Dalaran Cooking Award/TBC cooking recipes (( TESTED!))
- Cracked Egg: Green Proto-drake
- Alchemist Cache: Double Flasks/Lotus/Eternal Life
I'm myself saving 6 blue sacks of gems (who gives a rat's ass about rare quality gems anyway?). And A few cracked eggs.
