Buff your ALT with your MAIN!

Say you’ve got a mid-level priest, or druid, or mage… something that can cast buffs (the “buffer”). And let’s say you’ve got a low level rogue or hunter alt that you want to give a little help to (the “buffee”)…


Run your buffer and your buffee to the exact same location. Then log into your buffee, and exit the game with alt-F4. This Windows command will terminate your World of Warcraft client without sending a “logging out” message to the server, so your buffee character will remain logged in for another 30 seconds or so.


Then, log in with your buffer character - behold, your alt is right there! Now buff away, and log out.
Log back into your alt (buffee), and you’ve got your buffs…


Is this an exploit? Will it get you banned? Highly doubtful. If anything, you may just get a warning. But I’ve been doing this for a *long* time now, and no one has ever had a problem with it…

Why fix it? It's not a bug. It's a technical mechanic trick.

Yeah the 30 second delay after logging out has been long known, since Pre-TBC. The only bad thing about it is if you get aggro by a mob or ganked by a player after logging so you have to corpse-run when you log in.

This is a nice thing to do when leveling, I use it a lot.

Another very nice use for this that I found is that if you have a mage and need a portal for one of your lower level characters you can make a portal for yourself.

You place the characters at the same place and then simply need to invite someone (a friend or anyone) to a raid on the character that needs the portal, then log onto the mage and get the mage invited to the raid. Make the portal and use this method to log onto the char that needed the portal again, it will still be there and since you're in a raid you're still in the same group even though you logged out, so you can take the portal.

Maybe your alt isn't in a city.

ye but i dont see the exploit mechanic in this.. ofcourse there is a delay when alt f4ing your char.. mostly when you want to relogg you will see "char already exists in the world"

i play wow the normal way.. always at top of endcontent..
never said that im an exploiter.. did i?
so why shouldnt i simply read here?
call me a leecher if u want..
but we cleared thorium hardmode for example long before anyone could think about an exploit..
