I think i can edit what one Vendor sells!

Hello. I'm new to the forums but i have been reading them for about 2 weeks. . I think that this morning i figured out how to edit personal things the vendors sell.. I could give you a long story about how i figured this out...........but who cares? Here is a step by step guide;

1) Open up your WoW directory. Located in C:\Program Files\Worldofwarcraft.

2)There will be a folder called WBD. Open it.

3)In side are some files. We will only concentrate on two of them.

4)Open up the one named 'itemcache'.

5)Now open up the one called 'itemnamecache'.

6)If you search around in the 'itemcache' one you will find something that is sold by a vendor of some sort.

7)Now go get an item from the 'itemnamecache' that you want the Vendor to sell.

Now replace the item you found in 'itemcache' with your new item. You must write it as many times as the previous item was written down.

9)Save both files and close all the windows down.

10)Run WoW find the vendor that you were editing and then where he would normally sell 'Normal Item Here' he will now have 'Item that was Replacement here'.

NOTE: I have only tested this once so it may only work with certain items. I'm not sure. Also Vendors that sell the same item as you replaced will still sell that. You have to find the right one. This can take quite a bit of time. . It took me 8 hours to find the right vendor. He was in Kalimdor!

Emu or Real Servers?

Well i tried a couple of times on emu but it worked ONCE and only ONCE on real ones.

As far as I know this is absolutly impossible. Everything of this nature is hosted server site, so there is nothing you can edit on your computer to change this.

I will wait for some one more knowledgable to respond to this before closing it.

You are 100% correct. Information such as item sell price/buy price is all server-side information. If you run a packet sniffer upon logging into World of Warcraft after Big Patch days you will see some packets from time to time that make talk of VENDOR_PRICE. I've been looking up Hex on this particular Packet, and compared, and there has been an increase, and decrease in a numerical value each time, leading me to believe that the only way to change the information about a price, is on the server side. Now, you very well could change the displayed value, but that's like pissing into the rain.

Its perfectly logical however, to change the value of an item on an Emu, simply because you are able to edit the properties of an item. I've also come to learn that World of Warcraft uses a system that places value on items globally, thus allowing 1 item based on a number of particular key elements to be given a value in currency based on those elements, such as level, rarity of spawn, % of drop, +bonus, etc. Which is why on the Emu it is very possible.

If you've never run a packet sniffer while playing WoW, I would suggest it. Its great fun, and very interesting if you can under the way a packet works.

Hey guys..........it works on emu servers but cos i had changed it to a shield with an armour + shield merchant it already had it so......my bad. Minus rep if you like. This does work on emu servers though. But the server has to have some program on the host computer (i found that out earlier).

don't think he's talking about prices guys... he's talking about items that the vendor contains..

For axample, replace wood, with item of your choise... (for axample, let a vendor sell meat to feed your pet so you wont have to head back to a town that DOES sell meat... or change it into an epic if vendors can sell bop items)

Still think its quite impossable, but who knows.

how do u open the WDB files? is there something i need to download first so it can read them?

You need hex workshop or something like that to open itemcache.WDB, but if you change the item vendor sells into an epic item, it will just LOOK and have the name/stats as the item, but it doesnt really have those stats and that look is only for you.
Its a kind of a model editing.

Example: Vendor sells , and you go into hex program and opens Itemcache, and change text into text.
Then the will just look like , Look like it has the same name/stats as (Wont have the same stats), and it will just look like that on your computer.
