[Warlock] Iron Council Steelbreaker Last - Made Easy

This is not so much of an exploit, it is more a very clever use of mechanics.

In our attempts to clear Steelbreaker last we found that the healer was put under a lot of pressure from dispels.

Basically we had myself the lock use a felhunter with shadowbite turned off (it uses a gcd)
I played desto but any other spec that doesnt use a felguard is more than viable.

Now bind /cast [target=focus] Devour Magic to you main spells, in my case i bound it to Conflag, Incin, Immo, Chaosbolt.
Set Steelbreaker's tank to your focus. there are other methods of setting this macro up, focus is convenient since when you change tanks you can change focus.

When engaging have your felhunter sit on Steelbreaker, set the tank to focus and mash your keys.
Basically when steelbreaker casts fusion punch it will not hit the tank at all as it is dispelled instantly.
At the end of the fight recount looked something along the lines of:
    Pet Name (Lock Name): 14
    HPally: 3
    RPally: 2

The DPS loss from not using an imp is not a huge amount but we managed to kill steelbreaker with only 1 tank dying.

But wouldn't the tank still get 35,000 dmg from the initial cast? The nature damage is a dot, but the direct damage isn't.

Do the impossible, see the invisible

Have only used this on 10man since the healers get overwhelmed from phase 3 with static and the aura damage.

But I would assume it only removed the DoT effect and the tank takes the initial damage.

    1 tank dying.

    10 man right?

And yes, the tank will still eat the initial damage because it is completely unavoidable, only partially resistable. Cant be blocked, dodged, parried. Etc.

Working as intended. You used a dispel to remove a magical debuff.

Viralrush is right, isn't this the same as saying, use curse of tongues on Stormcaller Brundir it totally slows his cast and makes it easier to interupt zomg

    Not an exploit.

I agree with the others - not exactly an exploit. Good tip though! Will definately use that next week.

Also I think it would be better to assign an Affliction Warlock with that task since Imp does make a difference on our DPS as Destruction.

Pretty clever but this belongs in the guides-section, as this isn't a real exploit.

As others have stated, this isn't an exploit. It is, however, a clever trick. I'm sure some will find it useful.

    It's definitely a good idea.

In our attempts we've never really had a problem with the tank dying. It's always been other people dying for stupid reasons and healing Steelbreaker.

This might take some of the pressure off the healers though because as a healer you are forced to cancel your cast to dispel and that could be annoying.

    Thanks again for the tip.
