    Shadow priest and Hodir

Any decent SP should have the talent pain and suffering, talent which makes mind flay auto refresh swp.

As most SP should know that each time swp ticks, the damage is calculated based on current spell power AND any modifier at the time of cast. Therefor if SP gets the stormcloud buff from the shaman first he/she should immediately recast SWP before spreading the buff. If done right you're SWP should have the stormcloud crit bonus even after the cloud wears off you, assuming you constantly refresh it with mind flay.

My swp was crit ticking for 4-6k during the 3 minute fight ;]

You don't have to recast SW:Pain to gain the benefits of Stormcloud and it does disappear when the buff fades, even if you refresh it.

Too bad whenever MF ticks it uses your current SP and modifier to calculate the dmg.

This sounds more like a DK trick. Get cloud Summon gargoyle and profit. Regardless i pull around 10k+ on hodir w/ sham/druid buff so. Id assume the refresh after buff is gone would over write the original cast.

sw : p and mindflay ist still bugged and DOES NOT calculate your +dmg to your sw : p if you refresh it via mindflay, so you have to refresh it when you gain a +dmgbuff. same thing with shadow weaving and debuffs (mage / dk / wl etc) on your target.

    No!

SW: P modifiers (other than spellpower) are calculated on the intial cast and any other recasts of the spell, they are not and never have been recalculated when refreshed by MF or recalculated on ticks.

SW: P is the only dot who still "suffers" from this bug, and its been exploited since the dawn of time, malygos thaddius loatheb IC XT-002 Hodir General Vezax id say yogg but the adds die before Sara´s debuff on the adds runs out.

on the other hand this also sucks, having to wait on other classes taking their time applying their debuffs before beeing able to cast SW: P is often a pain more than a blessing.

You are all right and wrong at the same time ...

When you cast SW:P it applies all CURRENT modifiers. When you REFRESH SW:P with Mindflay, it rechecks and reapplies all the CURRENT + whole number modifiers i.e. +spell power (+100 SP), or +spell haste(+200 haste rating) Which means that whatever your SP is when you refresh SW:P with MF is what it uses. HOWEVER IT DOES NOT recheck and reapply any modifiers that are +% modifiers OR +spell crit i.e. +2% to spell power or +200 crit rating modifiers. Which means that whatever the +spell crit or +% modifiers where when you initial cast SW:P is what is used when you refresh it with Mindflay.

So . . . any boss buff that gives +% or + to crit it is best to cast SW:P right after you get the buff and then refresh with MF and does not care about a +spell power buff you had 2 minutes ago and no longer have.

ALSO ... the best consumable that gives you this bonus is Potion of Wild Magic. So it is best to drink a PotoWM then recast SW:P and continue refreshing it with MF for the +200 crit bonus.

Hope that finally answers this old old question. And no rep point as this is all common knowledge at the site that every shadow priest should have bookmarked as a favorite .... www.shadowpriest.com
