Double down on dailies

Ever since Daylight Saving Time went into effect, there's been some interesting glitches on the way dailies function for my server (and I assume most others as well). Specifically, the quest for the day is updated at 3AM server time as always, but the daily quests themselves reset at 4AM server time.

How is this useful you ask? Here's an example that I just did tonight. Sunday's cooking daily was Convention at the Legerdemain. As I didn't have any chilled meat at the time, I skipped it and checked back with the NPC a little after 3. The daily was now Mustard Dogs!, which gives 2 awards instead of the normal 1. I grabbed some rhino meat out of the bank and completed the quest. An hour later at 4, the "you can only complete 25 more daily quests today" message comes up, and lo and behold I pick up Mustard Dogs! again, complete it again, and get another 2 cooking awards.

Granted, this isn't useful for all of the daily quests, but for the ones that rotate (dungeons, fishing, cooking), it may well prove useful.

Ok so say you do this once twice a day, but wouldnt it be the same as if i waited before it turned over. Did one daily then the same one after reset, then id have to wait till the next reset at 4am because i already did it. So wouldnt this only work once or am I just confused?

I think he ment a it a lil different. Since the daily resets at 4 Am but the server resets at 3 you can do the same daily twice, meaning that if you had a daily you needed one day you come back at 3.10 AM and do it again. Since the rotation changes at 4. But I am not too sure if it was just luck, that you had the same daily twice. Might it not have changed at 3 and you were just lucky?

It's part glitch, part exploit. The glitch is due to blizzards timers for when new dailies begin versus when the dailies reset. The exploit part is merely taking advantage of this.

There was an old version of this during burning crusader. But rather than a 1 hour window, you had all of about 10-60seconds (can't remember specifically).

But, I see what dennis is saying and I'd like someone to confirm it.
The OP said that he didn't do the original daily so it can't be guaranteed that you can do the extra daily in the hour slot given since even though it may be a different quest, the daily from the quest giver may be on 'used' status or w/e.

Basically he is saying 3am rolls around and boom u got new Daily u do it then 4am it resets do it again. Same Q, Not to sure if it is good for Dungeons but cooking it is a nasty idea.

Correct, you have to skip the previous day's daily in order to "double up" on the incoming day's. If the new daily isn't one that you want, you do that one before the reset, and wait until the next one comes along.


Here's a quick time chart to kind of illustrate what you do:

Any time before 3AM Tuesday - check the daily quest, skip it if it's not one you want
3AM Tuesday - the server changes the quests, complete the new one
4AM Tuesday - the server resets daily quest counts, skip the new one if it's not the one you want, complete it a second time if it is.

If you skipped Tuesday's:
3AM Wednesday - the server changes the quests, complete the new one
4AM Wednesday - the server resets daily quest counts, skip the new one if it's not the one you want, complete it a second time if it is

If you completed Tuesday's:
3AM Wednesday - the server changes the quests, but you can't check it
4AM Wednesday - the server resets daily quest counts, check the new one. If it's the one you want, go ahead and complete it, if not wait until next night and use the above chart

And you just continue in this manner, getting double the daily quest you want and skipping ones you don't. The only time you can't "double" on a daily this way is if the same one comes up twice in a row, and you doubled on the first time.

I came across this with the heroic dailys but it only seemed to have a very small window but could off just been i was close to 4am and not realised as am usally half sleep anyways but yeas defo something there.

Basically it's not "Double Dailies" then, it's more of just a chance at a 2nd daily "Option" if the first daily isn't something you want/can't do/aren't interested in.
