MeleeDps malygos during vortex phase

Hey, being trying to contribute more recently, and here's something I discovered during my guild's malygos attempts this week.

As a melee class if you run directly northwest during the transition between dps and vortex phases, when you get thrown up in the air you should be able to attack malygos. I tested this every chance I got (Which was a lot while we were working on 6 minute maly) and it worked every time. It seems though, gathered from other results, there is a bit of a sweet spot between the middle of the circle, and the northwest sector where you want to stand, facing northwest. If you go to far northwest, say to the very edge, it will not work.

Another way which is probably more well known is having warlocks use Demonic Circle: Teleport.

Edit: Courtesy of Kongmarius - Rogue's killing spree works aswell for dropping down during vortex.

Edit: Unfortunately I'll have to wait for a week to get a screenshot, what it would basically be is my action bars lit up while in the air, but here is a mini-map ss of where to run - (I had to make the image bigger to get it to be a proper thumbnail, hence the black box.

U can also add Rogue's Killing spree there, just throw it right before vortex, or during vortex

I have noticed being able to attack him sometimes while i the air. I did not know that it was because i was standing in a certain spot. I will try this on tonights maly and post results.

edit: about how far from the center on that NW radius should i run? does it matter?

edit: i could not get this to work, in 25 man or 10 man. will try again next week.

When I did it I just ran as precisely northwest as I could, facing away from malygos

How much time do you need to run prior to the transition? Too long and the DPS uptime drops and isn't worth it.

However, either way this is a very useful game mechanic you've discovered if it holds true.

Basically when I did it, as soon as he started flying and I couldn't dps him anymore, I started running northwest, and when I got pulled up into the vortex I was "Facing him" and was able to attack him

It happened to me several times, being able to dps Malygos while on the Vortex. It seemed random, and i never quite figured out how to trigger it to happen. If it works like you say in this thread, it's +rep for you mate. : )

I can confirm this, although it's not quite the way you described. If you run too far NW you will be out of range, the sweet spot seems to be the mid-point of the center of the circle and the outer ring.
