Very Useful Flying Mount Trick.

There is an item called Loaned Gryphon Reins - Item - World of Warcraft. You get it from an NPC near the flight path at K3. If you read the comments on WoWhead, you'll see what I mean. It can be used in combat, making it great for PvP if you can fear or slow your opponent. You also can't be deathgripped off of it, which is a fun way to anger death knights. It only works in icecrown, Storm Peaks, and Sholazar, though. Another bad thing is that it's only a 60% mount, and I don't think you can get it if you already have cold weather flying Good luck.

The only other thread about this says "You can mount while falling/moving". It also talks about mounting in combat, but that's the only thing from that thread that still works.
