[Exploit] Awesome AoE Grind (70 - 75)

Class: Paladin, Protection Spec
Suggested Items: Figurine of the Colossus - Item - World of Warcraft
Average EXP: 450,000 per hour (results vary depending on gear level)


During the quest The Delicate Sound of Thunder - Quest - World of Warcraft you get dressed up as a construct and need to investigate a cave.

The exploit? Once you see the dwarves spawn, drop your disguise and AoE them down. They instantly respawn, so the faster you kill them the more EXP you can get. They will not quit spawning (at least they didn't for me).


I used a cast sequence macro spammed with my "1" key:
/use 14
/castsequence Holy Shield, Consecration, Hammer of the Righteous, Seal of Light, Judgement of Light

Where 14 was the trinket slot where my Figuring was equipped.

[Edit] Make sure you are using Blessing of Sanctuary so that you don't run out of mana.

Datnish, i think the exploit has nothing to do with the trinket, that jsut makes it easier. True it might not be an exploit but he is talknig about the dwarfs having an instant spawn. Can anyone confirm though?

done this quest b4. you have to go in the cave to a statue. your dressed up so the mobs wont aggro. gotta be 100 of em.

use to be bugged so youd have to drop out of the construct to get credit. and they do attack you. cant confirm the amount of exp you get.

but i can confirm this will work.

But this isnt a exploit, this is a trinket beign used....the way its made to be used...

Maybe there is a reason that you haven't posted in anything in a year... Could it be that you are so moronic that you can't read and entire, and very SHORT, post before trying to flame?

If you'll notice, I said that the Figurine was SUGGESTED, not needed. It has NOTHING to do with the exploit. It simply makes the job of keeping yourself alive much easier.


The EXPLOIT is that when you drop your disguise and attack / kill the dwarves, they will instantly respawn (and they will NOT stop respawning). You can sit there and grind them for hours and hours. They are supposed to despawn, but they won't.

The amount of EXP you receive from this is directly proportional to how fast you can kill the dwarves. For me I was sitting at 400 - 500k EXP per hour (Tier 5 / 6 gear). I would post a picture to "confirm" this for you guys, but I have since completed the quest (the grind gets extremely dull after awhile; I'm sure you could set up a script for AFK leveling though since there is near no risk of dying).



And people wonder why I don't post here more often... Dear God the idiocy.

Does anyone know if there is a Horde version of this quest? Wowhead only lists Alliance side..

Cave entrance at 73.4,70.4

you wont need the quest, just head to the cave and slaugther your way in as a horde.

Complete directions:

- top of entrance to Excavation: 72.7, 67.5.
- take scaffolding all the way over to elevator at 72.3, 74.1
- take elevator down.
- get off elevator and jump down to scaffolding at 72.5, 73.9
- face relatively north and take ramp to right.
- you will take two ramps... after that go to the right.
- jump to scaffolding at 72.8, 72.2
- face the cliff wall and take the scaffolding / ramp up to the right. (There will an earth elemental stationary at the base of that ramp.) Base at 72.9, 71.6
- go up the scaffolding to the green dirt at 73.8, 71.0
- take scaffolding ramp on your left up to the deck.... you will come up to that deck underneath the next ramp you need to take.
- the ramp (base at 72.9, 71.2) up to the cave entrance.

The mobs will not spawn if you do not have the quest, so it is a requirement.

However, if someone with the quest comes along and you tag the mobs before they disappear... I am unsure whether or not that would work. It is possible though.

no, doesnt work for horde.
I just tryed, apparently you need to be wearing a disguise to have the bugged mobs spawn.
I just waited 45 mins tryin to find them =(

This doesn't work. I spent an hour doing the questline to get the quest.

1) The mobs you AOE don't give any experience
2) They don't respawn after the first wave.

Im currently level 69 1/2 on my paladin. Will try and hopefully confirm this in a few hours.

Edit: I can see you have Tier5/6 gear. You REALLY should add this in your first post. Gear is VERY dependant for doing this.
Iv'e got full protection tier 4 and died allmost instantly. Tried it about 5-6 times with different strategies until i gave up.
So add this: GEAR DEPENDANT. NOT FOR CASUALS
