Spawn Hundreds of Gryphon Pets

In Icecrown you get a quest called "You'll Need a Gryphon" in which you take gryphon reins from a onslaught rider.

Well, if you take the reins, mount up with them, and then dismount, the gryphon spawns as your pet. The problem is when you mount up again, the previous pet doesn't despawn, and you can repeat this infinitely.

I haven't done this quest yet, so tell me... Is there any advantage per say regarding them as "attacking pets"?

They're kind of like non-combat pets. Don't attack. You can spawn them anywhere in Icecrown, but as soon as you fly near Dalaran they despawn.
