    Uldaman For Shards and Gold

Hello, this is a guide sent out in a Gavin Garret e-mail. I take ABSOLUTELY NO CREDIT for this, as, I didn't write any of it. I just wanted to share it with this community and anyone that doesn't recieve these e-mails.

Let me be the first to say that I hate Uldaman. It's a rather long instance, takes awhile to clear, and is generally boring. In fact, when I log into WoW for the day and I'm trying to decide what I want to do, soloing Uldaman for gold is the farthest thing from my mind.
There is one exception to this, however. Every time I log in, the first thing I do is check the auction house. There are a number of things that I track on a daily basis on my server, and they include enchanting Shards. Specifically, Large Radiant Shards andSmall Radiant Shards.
If, when I check the auction house, there are not many shards available, I head to Uldaman... or as I sometimes call it, "Shard City".
Like many instances in World of Warcraft, Uldaman has a back door. However, unlike most instances, this back door is not locked.

Enter the back door of Uldaman, and go due north to get to Dig 3. At Dig 3 is a boss named Galgann Firehammer. Good 'ol Galgann has a habit of dropping blue items pretty regularly - specifically, the Flameseer Mantle and Galgann's Fireblaster.
Allakhazam.com lists his drop rates for blue items at 36%... however in my experience (and I've killed him a LOT), it's much closer to 55%.

Both items disenchant into Large Radiant Shards, which will sell for between 8 and 11 gold each (average is around 9 gold.)
The great thing is that you can go in the back door, avoid all the mobs (except perhaps a bat or two if you're sloppy), and kill him and his body guards without killing anything else.
Total time from the back door to killing him to back outside is about 5 minutes with practice.
Now, you can only reset an instance 5 times an hour, so if he drops a blue 5 times in a row for you, you're looking at 45 gold in 30 minutes tops (that's 90 gold per hour!)
However, he's probably not going to drop a blue for you every time, and that's where I do things a little differently.
When I am farming Galgann, I get a green instead of a blue about half the time. When this happens, I kill Ironaya as well.

    Hey Ironaya! Gimme Shards!
In order to kill Ironaya, you need to collect the Staff of Tsol from Revelosh and the Gni'kiv medallion from a small chest next to the Three Vikings.
This additional process should take perhaps 15 minutes at the most. Revelosh does not drop any blue items, but the Three Vikings do. If you're horde, you can kill the Three Vikings. Olaf has about a 12% chance to drop Olaf's All Purpose Shield. Eric the Swift has about a 5% chance to drop the Horned Viking Helmet, and Baelog has about a 10% chance to drop the Nordic Longshank. All three of these items disenchant into Small Radiant Shards.
Once you have the medallion and the staff, head back to the map room, combine the two items together, and use it to open the door. Don't worry about clearing the troggs in the room - just open the door and run up and kill Ironaya.

    Ironaya Thinks She's
    All That

According to Allakhazam, Ironaya has a 80% chance to drop a blue item (Ironaya's Bracers of , Stoneweavers Leggings, or Ironshod Bludgeon.) The bracers and the staff disenchant into Small Radiant Shards, and the leggings disenchant into a Large Glowing Shard.
Allthough the blue item drop rate for Ironaya is supposed to be 80%, I can't recall a single time that she hasn't dropped a blue for me.
So, here's the real-life breakdown. You enter Uldaman through the back door 5 times. Two of those times, Galgann is going to drop a blue. You leave through the back door and reset the instance when this happens. Total time: 25 minutes.
The other three times, Galgann is going to drop a green. When this happens, you kill Revelosh to get the Staff of Tsol, and kill (if you're Horde) the Three Vikings and get the Gni'kiv Medallion.
Combine these two items and then go kill Ironaya. Each time you do this will take an additional 15 minutes. Total time: 45 minutes.
Remember - don't mess with the trash mobs unless you can't avoid them. Speed is of the essence here.
On average, you'll do this run 5 times in 70 minutes, so you won't get hit with the 5 instance resets per hour rule.
You'll end up with 2 Large Radiant Shards and 3 Small Radiant Shards.
Large Radiant Shards sell for about 9 gold, and Small Radiant Shards sell for about 4 gold, for a total of 30 gold in that 70 minute span.
However, you'll also have 3 Bind-on-Pickup greens from Galgann (from the times he didn't drop a blue), and 3 Bind-on-Pickup greens from Revelosh. These 6 BOP greens will sell for an average total of 4 gold.
If you're horde, you'll have another 1 gold worth of trash from the Three Vikings, or possibly another Small Radiant Shard.
Plus you'll have the various vendor trash dropped by Galgann's bodyguards and the occasional mobs that you could not avoid.
All-in-all, you're looking at 35-40 gold per 5 runs, and you should be able to do 5 runs in 60-70 minutes.
So, on the low side, you're looking at 30 gold per hour average, and on the high side, it'll be 40 gold per hour.
If you're lucky and Galgann drops 5 blues in a row, you'll make 90 gold per hour.
    Here are some alternate methods:
Sometimes, I go kill Ironaya everytime, regardless of whether Galgann drops a blue or green. I can kill Galgann and then kill Ironaya and then get out to reset the instance in about 17 minutes, so about 4 times an hour.
Of these 4 runs, I get 2 Large Radiant Shards and 4 Small Radiant shards on average, plus 6 BOP greens worth 4 gold. This nets me right around 38 gold per hour.

    Results of a 2-hour
    Galgann Farm

Other times, I'll go kill Grimlok instead of Ironaya if Galgann doesn't drop a blue. Killing Galgann takes a bit longer for me - about 20 minutes instead of 15, and there are some trash mobs along the way which cannot be avoided.
Grimlok will drop a blue item 50% of the time, and it'll be a guaranteed Large Radiant Shard. The other 50% of the time it'll be a BOP green that sells for 80 silver.
So, there you have it. Uldaman for Shards. As I mentioned, I'll generally only do this when the supply of shards at the AH is low, or the prices are high for some reason. For best results, farm Uldaman for shards for a few hours during the week, and then sell them on the weekend (when more people are playing - which usually increases the demand.)

Thanks for sharing it here at the forum.
This is a good way to get shards don't know a better one.

I think this should be in guides instead of exploits.

Yeah, it should, I don't know what made me think of putting it in the exploits section of the forums (Probably because that's where I am most of the time.) My bad. If someone could move it, that'd be great.

SM GY is a great place for shards, but not nearly as fast. I prefer it though because it's not so mind numbingly boring. Great share though

Does this actually work. My friend said he tried this and all he got was dust (forgot what type) He ran it several times and only got one shard.
