This is most assuredly a "Tips and Tricks" so no expecting exploits in this post!
Let's say your out grinding/questing/exploring when suddenly you spy the elusive Thorium (or mat of your choice)! But wait, some noob in your faction is heading right for it! You dash off with your elite mount, riding crops, mith spurs and carrot on a stick in hand and still don't make it in time. Instead of crying in the /yell channel "OmG h4xx!!!" try this:Of course, you may need to hotbar a /yield incase they accept and you are, ahem, a poor PvPer.
- In advance, hotbar a custom macro that throws up a duel flag on your target.
- Use that hotbar button to distract the player.
- Player will take the split-second pause to refuse or accept.
- During that split-second autoloot the Thorium.
- /slap said noob across the face.
Edit: I find the best way to perform this is to wait until they are about to strike the vein. I think the reason for this is some people believe they cannot perform actions while the duel dialog is open and they err to decline instead of missing their chance at the ore.
Side Effects: Repeat usage will label you as Lame. Don't blame me.
Not sure if it has been posted before (Seached, didn't find it), and this may be old, but hopefully this will help someone who really needs it Anyway, I always see stuff on here and say "Oh I do that all the time, I never knew someone else would use that!"
Good Luck!
