[World Building] [3.3.5a] How to make a new map an instance?

    Hey guys!

I have a quick question, and I don't know exactly where to put this since its both emulation and world building.

I am trying to make a new map an instanced zone. For example, I would like to take part of Twilight Highlands (extracted from Cata and modified to work on WoTLK) and put it on a separate map where players can port in and out of, just like an instance like Wailing Caverns or Icecrown Citadel. Is this even possible? Would I have to do some server side editing as well as database editing? Some DBC editing as well too?

Thank you for the help, if you would like more information about what I am planning to do, please PM or reply here. I know I was kind of vague about this, I can't really think of how to word this correctly right now haha :P

If you are using trinitycore read: Map.dbc tc2 - TrinityCore - KPsN Collaboration Platform if using arcemu changing the worldmap_info or ? entry will work.

Hmm, I will have a look at it tomorrow. I assume I can add a new MapID to the Map.dbc file and configure it to make it an instance, then somehow import the map files into the map ID using a client patch. That is getting more into the world building part of things though. Thank you for that link!

Ya once the map is in place in the world(assuming trinitycore) you just have to go into the Map.dbc and tell it to be an instance. That much is simple. I can't however off the top of my head tell you how to make a instance type portal to tele there. You are gonna have to go digging probably in dbcs and mpqs to find some instance doodad and figure out how that part works to replicate it for yourself
