    core support later patches?

hey how do the servers have support for later patches than what there core is running? is it because they use a launcher and have it download a patch(there patch) and a custom .exe for there server? cause if so then i'm good to go but if not then can someone point me in the right direction to be able to have my server do that?

    core support later patches?

They allow connections from a newer version, they have no support for the changes and additions from the patches tho.
    Support the #1 WoW Emulator:

What they do is take an existing emulator (TrinityCore) and modify it to work with higher patches. To do this, you need to reverse engineer all the opcodes and their values (this is actually done for us quite often by the guys in memory editing) and then to implement any changed or new functionality.

With a few skillled developers you can achieve this relatively easily. WoWSham is running MoP quite successfully and they are a for-profit group of developers.

But if you don't know C++ and don't understand the WoW client then you are not going to get very far.

This is not released to the public because there is so much money to be made in the private scene and not many care to contribute back to the public scene when there are so many leechers.

so what your saying is if i can do it myself then thats cool but don't release it to the public and also that there are people who you can pay in order to have this done for you?

    correct?

i'm ok with C++ and im learning the wow client but to be completely honest this is probably beyond my scope currently and i have no problem admitting that. Think i'll go on the look for someone i can pay to do it then i suppose. Thanks much appreciated on the how to do it(in general terms)

I'm saying that this is what people do and that they don't release it to the public as it gives them a competitive advantage. Whether you release any work you achieve to the public is up to you.

Knowing C++ is not enough to be able to write for WoW. You need to understand how WoW works and how the current emulators are put together.

Trying to pay people to do it is often not successful because people claim to be able to do it then poorly implement it or do not have much experience with WoW.

I would just stick with the emulator supported patches.

    Good luck either way.

ok and again thanks much appreciated, sorry feel like a leecher...i'll end up releasing something for people even if its just a launcher(with source files and a tutorial on editing the needed info) for all the newblets who don't know how to code a simple launcher. or else just release a custom script once i make one thats 100% mine.
