    Windows 7 and Portforwarding

Okay so i got this little problem. I didn't know exactly what section to put this under but since it has to do with my WoW private server ports i figured i would just post it here. Let me clear some things up first: First thing first i am not asking for help on forwarding ports on my router because i know how to do that already.

What i want to know, does Windows 7 have a background security program besides the firewall of course running to block ports that are being forwarded on the router? Because i have had no problem with Windows XP and Portforwarding but since i switched to Windows 7 i can't get the dang thing to work!

Im doing everything i did before. Maybe i am not doing it right since it has been a year or so since i did my last Private Server. But i guess i need your guys help in figuring this out!

    Thanks in advance,
    Corosive

Besides windows firewall (as you said) there isn't really anything else. Make sure that you are not using any custom firewalls imposed by anti-virus etc, such as Kaspersky does.

Hmm, well i had Microsoft Security Essentials downloaded on my computer and i thought maybe that was blocking the ports, but when i uninstalled it and tried it again it was still a no go. I also thought maybe i had a defective router (Netgear WGR614v9) so i went and bought another wireless router (Netgear WNR1000v3) still no luck. I disabled my firewall on my modem also.

Do you think the wireless security on my router could be blocking them? I mean im not on wireless but my other computers are so i set the highest sercurity level wireless wise, you think that could be the problem?

Best to google around for your router model and other people trying to port forward. I don't think it's an issue with your computer if your firewall is off.
