There's no chance of something like that being released any time soon.
If you're comfortable using MaNGOS, you can use this fork: https://github.com/mangos/one
It's the 3.3.5a MaNGOS core stripped down to 2.4.3.

AFAIK, all of the BGs work (or are pretty damn close) and the events should be working.
