Anyone know a good DB for Mangos?

Hey looking for a good database for Mangos anyone know of one and where to get?

I'm trying to make a server from scratch this round and if I can get it to work I want to make a good guide for doing so seems like a lot of the really good ones are a bit dated and many others gloss over a part or two and some of us could use the for dummies version >_>. Besides not much else I can do to contribute here for the help this site has been.

On a side note if I make a Vanilla server in the future I wonder if a modern DB would work for it so long as the dbc, maps, and vmaps, were extracted from a non-updated client?
