First I really do hope this is the right place for this question, if not I do apologise, I was having a hard time trying to find the right forum and even with the Search.
The problem I am having is that I'm trying to get on to a private WoW Server that I found, and I can't get the game client/patch right.
The server I found is for patch 2.4.3 (Burning Crusade of course), and I have been trying to reinstall the game and patch it right.... I play retail at all times, so I do this in attempt to retain the full client as well.
Each time I try to reinstall and patch the game, it either does two things:
1) i'll install regular WoW (I have the original 4-cd's for the installer, AND two installer programs, one being sort of a current that you can download from the world of warcraft site, and one that's the same as the 4 cd's but in a .exe installer on my PC), and patch it up to 1.12.1 and then start and patch through TBC patches, launch the game after I set the realmlist.wtf with the info for the server, and it tells me I need The Burning Crusade data installed.
so....
2) I try to install TBC, and when it gets done, the client is at patch 3.0.1, with NO Patch.mpq file in the Data folder, and no way of depatching to lower. The only way I have of installing TBC is with the "current" DVD disc you can buy nowadays (only copy I have), and the above mentioned installer I got from the main site (does WoW, TBC and Wrath).
If it's a matter of the way TBC is being installed can anyone point me in the direction of an older installer or something, I just want to be able to have it installed without it being set at patch 3.0.1 as default.
Again I apologise if this is in the wrong section or if this is not allowed on the site, but I have been having problems for the last two days and don't imagine it would do me any good to go to the WoW Forums
Thanks to anyone in advance who can help me on this!
P.S. I did rename the retail versions folder to WoW-Retail, so I know it's nothing with my retail client.
