How to share my HeidiSQL DB

I am trying this since yesterday,
me and my friend are working on a server,but he can't give me accest to his DB.
We are both using HeidiSQL 5.0

He made me accounts and i couldn't log in keeps saying that Can't connect to MySQL server on "his ip" (10061)
We tried with hamachi too..he wrote at hostname my hamachi ip ,and when i was trying to log on i am writting his hamachi ip..but still no restul
We both forwarded pot 3306.
Any idea of how to make this work?

Are you sure you're using the right port? Theoretically, MySQL can be setup on any port. Ask him to run the "Instance Server Config Wizard", manage a connection and check the port. If it is 3306, make him go to the step where it says "Change root password" and make sure he puts in the root password and selects "Allow Remote Access" or something like that.

Tell him to do this;

Download Navicat, Set up it so he can connect to the MYSQL database, click on "manage users" then click on "add user" give him your username, password, and "host" or your I.P address hit ok click on "select all" for all permissions and save. that should give you access to it by using the same information, but using his I.P.
