[Server/SQL] Character Transfer

Hi there.. I am new to this and was wondering. Is ther a way of transporting a character from one private server to another one. Me and a friend both have the same server, both woking on LANs. We are running a Mangos 3.3.3a server. All the accounts are the same because he got the server and database from me after we played together. Now he has leveled his character on his server. So the big question is: Is there a way to import his character into my server while keeping my chatacter. Thanks

You can open HIS database in navicat, right click his character database, and hit "dump SQL file"
Put that anywhere you want.

Then, open that file with notepad, and do Find and Replace 'Insert' with 'Replace'

NOTE: THIS WILL REPLACE THE CHARACTER DATABSE YOU ARE USING USING WITH THE ONE HE WAS USING!

If you want, you can PM me that SQL dump and the characters you want transfered over, and I can make it so that it only replaces his character and not everything.

For you to be able to do what myran2 is trying to say yourself you would need to:

Open the SQL file that he sends you, take every line that says "INSERT" and change it to "UPDATE" and then it should execute fine.

UPDATE has a different syntax than REPLACE or INSERT, so that wouldn't work :/

You could probably write a simple php page that would transfer characters one at a time instead of replacing your entire characters table.

Don't forget that the character ID your friend is using might be in use in your server; So the safe way would be SELECTing the character row from your friend's DB, INSERTing it (without the id) to your db, checking the character's ID in your DB, and then getting the playeritems, achievements, and any other character-related information from the source DB (using the original character ID), changing it to the new ID, and INSERTing it to the target DB.
