    [Questions] Are these things possible?

    1. Is it possible to make guilds at war with each other (like horde and alliance would be, but everyone not in your guild is against you)
    or can i make more factions than just horde and alliance?

    2. Is it possible to add flags, like the battleground ones, outside as capturable nodes that award marks, money, or etc. to certain guilds/players?

    3. Is it possible to have members of your server install a launcher and a patch that when that launcher is opened it changes the realmlist and moves the patch in to the folder, then moves the patch out when you close the game?
    haha could i add custom model edits and shit to my server doing this?

    Is it possible, how hard would it be, roughly how would it be done?

    1. Factions are in DBC files. Go Model Editing section for that. Although you could make everyone attack each other, the Guild wouldn't be possible by just changing everyones faction.
    2. Dunno what the hell you are on about; tired.
    3. Yes it is, although that would be a big launcher. Easier to just get player to put in there manually. Also, yes, you could have custom patches with models, music and etc.

    2. I mean like the capturable nodes in Arathi Basin, but awarding something more solid than points

    So then would i include that in the patch? Is there a way to have that without them downloading anything? Wouldn't this make it susceptible to hackers?

    Edit: Nevermind...haha i think i figured it out, it is the server code then and I just have to edit that?

    Any idea if the battleground flags are game objects or m2's?

    You can do the first one with C++ i believe.

    You can do the second one easily with Lua.

    What is Kingdoms? - WCell Forums

    Started something similar just put it on hold, since my time was very limited... I might pick it up in the future and finish it.

    The first one, i have a friend who knows a lot of C++ who says he'll help me out. I've been thinking of learning how to edit the Lua, but i may just work on the patch for the server and find someone to code the Lua for me.

    Im just surprised nobody has made anything like this yet, especially since it is possible then. I quit retail because the game got too repetitive :yuck: ha thats what inspired this idea.

    1. Yes, but it's a project you would more than likely never finish. Many people try doing things like this.

    2. Yes, check the release section, I believe it was Mager who made a capture the flag script. (C++)

    3. The launcher is very possible, I believe there's a basic one in releases. Or you could just make your own in VB or something, they are simple to make. The patches, you will need alot of development/model editing experience for that. And since you weren't quite sure what LUA was, I take it that you don't, not to be rude or anything..

    I do have model editing experience using noggit and the likes, unfortunately it has been months since then and i am rusty and have forgotten many things. Then was when i built the maps for the server. I admit I am unsure of how other people would obtain my patches, but it seems as simple as an adt file conversion and download, and maybe adding these maps in to the server database as well.

    Edit: Are there no guides on this? ive seen patches added before for bug fixes, i could try to pry the information they know from their minds >=)

    as it seems much of these things are done for me, im guessing its just a matter of putting them together? Like:

    I might when I'm done with my exam tomorrow... well, thats today but i havent rly slept yet...

    Anyhow, i had no real motivation to do it, since noone really gave a rats ass hehe...

    Anyhow, it doesnt need much to be just somewhat functional, All that is left for me, is basically just to implement the NPCs, and it should be good to go. Only problem being, is that i promised to do something like EventAI for WCell, allowing those hopeless noobs that use lua to basically program AI through gossip menus...

    My biggest concern is it being too large for enough player combat, and that helps immensely for players to stay.

    What i had planned was to create a large island in the middle of many smaller islands. The large island would consist of capturable nodes that would award players with whatever I would choose as a currency. The smaller islands would have guild keeps that could be attacked when enough players are online to assault. The keeps would be able to be pimped out with NPCs to protect it and such. This would all have to be put in to a patch of course. I was planning to start with a smaller version where i would put nodes around Dalaran and players fight for control of that, then they decide they like the idea/experience and download the patch.

    On wowlegacy they have "Outland Wars" but the outlands are so large you couldnt find the combat anywhere.

    If you can get it goin, get a good site, advertise it, and its fun people will find it and realize what a great concept and game experience it creates. =)

    You define yourself how many subareas of an area are part of a region...one could only use like a zone for it... It depends on what ppl want to do really
