the database has nothing to do with the connection to the server itself are you running MySql, Mangos, and the logonserver? All 2-3 must be running on your computer.

I think so Watchdog1... As far as I know I am. Like I said, I can connect to the database... How do I make sure the logonserver is running? Sorry guys... I followed a huge guide word for word but it didn't mention some of this.
in mangos the logonserver is your realmd exe file. does it have any errors on startup?
You can tell they're running by looking at the taskbar
I feel so foolish! In my defense I'm used to repacks!
I ran realmd.exe and it got me to the server select screen, but it says the mangos server is offline, its grayed out.
now you need to run world or realm w/e it's called
Hmm not sure I follow. The only other .exe file I see with realmd.exe is mangos.exe. I ran that and it opened a command prompt, scrolled through some stuff then closed itself.
do you have your maps and dbc folder with your mangos and realmd files?
read what it said in the command prompt cause that's what you need to run and it shouldn't be closing
Yes I do. There are folders called "maps" and "dbc" inside the folder that houses mangos and realmd. Well, I have copies of them there, yes.
Oh, and mangos.exe closes VERY quickly... I think it says "loading data stores" then closes, but it goes so fast I can barely see it.
K, to find error hit windows button then type 'cmd'. another black box pops up and in it type "cd C:\<LOCATION TO MANGOS FOLDER>" then type "mangosd.exe". The whole process will show up without closing- post what the error in red text is
You have the folders, but is there anything in your DBC folder?

You have the wrong client DBC files. :/ Did you extract them yourself?
