Do you REALLY need a dynamic IP adress to host a server public ?

All the guides say i need a dynamic host ip. Well for some reason i have a feeling you don't need to.

But is it true ? do i truly need a dynamic host ip ? ( like dyndns or no-ip )

If your IP is dynamic, yes you need one of these services. If it's static, then no you do not.

Only if you're hosting a server for other people. If it's local, no you don't need it.

Alot of the guides tell you to have dynamic IP's, which is needed for public server. The services also have to have wildcards, with no-ip.com and dyndns.com they removed wildcards so free members can no longer use wildcards thus making the dyndns services unusable with the IP. If your looking for a dynamic IP i suggest changeip.com

I have a static IP.
So i don't need a dynamic ip. But it might be easier to remember.
