Uninstall and delete the remains of the mysql install manually. Then reinstall and it should work.

The way you installed it adds a service too, if it's Vista or Windows 7 you must be logged in as Admin when you uninstall to get rid of the service (not just using uninstall as Admin, logged in).

    Process for you:

    -Login as Admin
    -Uninstall
-Check services make sure it's gone.
    -Delete All folders.
-Reboot 3 times (per It Crowd Policy)
    -Install

So does appserv do what MySQL does?
i sense a trick question. all im saying is that MySql (even with a reinstall) gave me nightmares. appserv proved to be simple and had no issues as far as setup was concerned. It also runs perfectly in conjunction with wamp. Mind you i am just running a server for friends and a website with an account creation page.
