    Modifying spells

Hello everyone. Lately I've been working on my database, especially on instances, in order to make them soloable (I have my reasons). It all worked fine until I've realized that changing the spells damage is much more complicated than it looks. I can't even find Spell IDs inside my database, only the ones that are included inside scripts, but then I still don't know what to do in order to reduce their damage of those few ones.

If it can be of any use, I'm using ArcEmu, patched up to 3.0.9, and using HeidiSQL to navigate the DB.

    Thanks in advance.

Modifying spells is ****ing hard, You need to compile your own core to do it, and then edit it, not exactly sure what to edit but :P

You have to edit the client and from what i've heard, some of the DBC files on the server.

    Not sure how through

That exactly what I wouldn't have wanted to hear. I've managed to open the "Spell.dbc" file in the meantime, but it's full of numbers without any explaination (what did I expect?), so I'm again at the starting point. Ugh. Thanks for the help anyway.

It is possible. Client edits - not necessary. Database edits, only for training and declarations. DBC edits, yes, it's necessary. (Btw use DBCutil.exe to reverse the dbc files, and CSVed or a text editor to edit the file itself) to plough through the spells.

I ain't yet bothered going on them since we're still developing most of the content. Either way, if you're attempting to make instances soloable, just re-script the mobs, and modify the general layout of them. That's all there is to it. Most spells need not be scripted and bound to the mobs, but if you just can't help it try looking up new spells. Keep in mind that while functionality might exist, visible results of doing so might not be present.

E.g. casting an AoE spell which looks like hellfire which debuffs players in range might become possible, but the spell effect won't appear nor the debuff, even though the debuff effect will still take place.

This is mainly because several content was hardcoded in the client, and you don't wanna bother yourself with the client, trust me - you don't ^^
