Need help with LUA

Could someone know how this quest event works?:

QUEST_EVENT_ON_ACCEPT = 1,
QUEST_EVENT_ON_COMPLETE = 2,
QUEST_EVENT_ON_CANCEL = 3,
QUEST_EVENT_GAMEOBJECT_ACTIVATE = 4,
QUEST_EVENT_ON_CREATURE_KILL = 5,
QUEST_EVENT_ON_EXPLORE_AREA = 6,
QUEST_EVENT_ON_PLAYER_ITEMPICKUP = 7,

Here is an example of the registering function procedure:

RegisterQuestEvent(ENTRYID, 1, "Quest_onAccept")

I understand the first 3, but for the rest I don't know where to put the values like: GO_activate, creature_kill, explore_area or player_itempickup.

Could you clarify a bit on what you're trying to achieve?

I want to fix Whitebark's Memory (quest 10166). I need to spawn the NPC not on quest accept but on item use, or spell cast (this could be better because most quest items have a spell to interact with GOs, that way I can fix tons of other quests) or item picked up not GO looted.

Or at least an example how to properly register: QUEST_EVENT_ON_PLAYER_ITEMPICKUP = 7
