Hi everybody in the mmowned community I have some few questions to ask and I hope you would be able to help me.
I have a very famous 3.0.2 Hybrid Server (so works with Echoes of Doom patch, check my profile) that, even if it contains a lot of bug its in most opinions the best private server that supports the last patch.
Currently I am running it on a Mangos Repack I downloaded from here, so I didnt compile it by myself.
And now, guys, I have a question to ask.
When the WOTLK expansion will come out, what could I do in order to upgrade the server without losing accounts/characters, custom items, and places? I've spawned many custom gameobjects and created many custom NPC's, vendors etc, so I would need a table backup I guess. But i dont really know what should I do precisely.

Its quite simple. you cant.. and if you try realy hard and steal enough players from blizz, theyll get your ass. Most people cast resist the lore of a new exspantion however you spell it >.>

Backup your whole DB, so when WoTLK comes and any of the Emus that win the fight (don't ask), you can simple make a new DB and apply the backup (if the structure hasn't changed) or just update your old DB and leave your backup incase something happens. Then just update your EXEs and then it should work.

Thanks Dark Soul, i've already tought about that and I see that I tought good.
So i will backup the whole database, and I'll apply the backups to a new mangos wotlk emu.
And i Think that, if structure is changed, I should run the sql updates, no?

when you insert new data always save the queries i have all the sql files for my custom stuff on my svn.
And account and character tables can be backupped(Most programs call it export) and then be restored when needed
