Need advice from Veterans here please!

I currently have a dedicated server running with Panex-Preium, the system is a windows 2003 server based. Before I start adding people to my server, I want to be sure I have the best repack and setup i can get...so I do not wind up having to change everything later! I have noticed quite a few things on the current repack that is not working properly...battle grounds, repair all buttons, many quests, etc

Here is what I am looking for in my server...

Type : Blizzard Like server, configurable to my own preferences. I want to be able to easily add custom items, areas, and events. I want this server to be very stable as well, no one like to see that message…sorry the server is down or not working! LOL

Functionality : As many quests, items, scripts and Battle Grounds working as possible!

Updates : Easy to update without overwriting my custom items, Areas, and server settings. I want the best, but at the same time do not want to be stuck with stuff that will never be updated….

Modifications : Must be easy to modify and customize.

The panex pack is the only sever I have ever setup and was able to configure it rather easily. Any suggestions on what I might want to change before going live? (At this point there is nothing that I am un willing to change to improve the server! Even if it means starting from scratch!)

Any and all input with be very appreciated! (Since the panex pack comes with most all programs included, please list all programs you suggest in the list to run the server.)

    Thanks in advance!!

    Ed

PS I was looking over the Total War repack..what do you all of that?

if you want a good setup for a server dont use a repack, get the latest and compile it yourself, get yourself a clean database (ncdb, whydb, or whatever you prefer). Thats the best thing you can do for a server, repacks arent as good as if you set the server up yourself.

    Compile yourself...always the best solution

    Arcemu Core: svn - Revision 1137: /
    WhyDB: Revision 223: /

Aznex > Compile my own own repack huh?

Thanks for the idea! I wil try this for sure!!!!

Once I finish the above mentioned steps, I will still need to add some server side stuff right? For instance, will the battle grounds, boats, and npc scripts be working properly or will I also need to find stuff to make these operational?
