Has anyone ever made a standalone bot before?

A standalone bot or automated custom client, a 100% from scratch WoW implementation? Has it been done?

I'm in the process of making one for Legion, I'm just wondering if I'm the first.

Yeah, it's been done before. There was a Chinese one around MoP, I remember one in either WotLK or BC and there were likely others too.

Back in Vanilla WoW, there was even a game hack which utilized LUA to hack the game. It was easily detected, and thus all the users of it were suspended or banned. I even remember a wall hack which was made with LUA for the game.
