An easy noob friendly guide to setting up MySql !!

Heya! :wave: I just wanted to make a guide of how to set up mysql for making like a private wow server! I know there probably like 10 of these guides out already but i just wanted to make my own

Ok lets start! first download MySql!
windows x32 http://www.soft32.com/download/63-17...0.45-win32.zip
windows x64 http://www.soft32.com/download/63-17....45-winx64.zip
mac OS X 10.4+ MySQL for Mac OS X 10.4 (Intel) Download

1. you have downloaded it and unzipped it , now open up the setup and you should see a little window pop up.

click next.

2. Now you should see 3 options to chose from
Typical
Complete
Custom

what you want is to click typical

3.the window should come up and show you what you are installing and where

click install

4. ok give it a minute and it should finish and a new window will come up.

click next

5. another mysql ad...

click next

6.now the window goes back to before and there should be a little box that says "Configure the MySql server Now"

check the box and hit finish

7. another new window pops up

click next

8. now you see 2 options "Detailed Configuration" and "Standard Configuration"

check standard config and hit next

8.5 now there are 2 options again "Install as windows service" and "Include Bin Directory in Windows Path" (DO NOT CHECK the include bin directory thing)

check install as windows service and launch the mysql server automatically ((plus make sure see that the little mini drop down menu above the launch the mysql server automatically says MySql and nothing else))

9. now you see 2 more options "Modify Security Settings" and "Create An Anonymous Account" (DONT CHECK!! the enable root access from remote machines box or create anonymous account)

check modify security settings and put in a password in the box, then retype in the box below (can be any password, but make sure you can remember it)

10. it should go to a window with "Prepare configuration, Write Configuration file, Start service, Apply security settings"

click execute

11. it is finished and youll see the finish button lit up now

click finish

Thx for the great guide. Any clue were one can get the core to set up a server at home so my kids can play wow on our own LAN only? My kids are 6, 9, and 13. All three love playing wow WOTLK but they get frustrated playing with tons of strangers running around randomly killing them. Thanks for your time, I have researched his a bit and all the core files I have found seem to be took down or missing so I havent been able to download any.
