Make Ascent 2.3.x server really easy :)

Hello, this is my first post, so im gonna do my best =)..

1. Download Ascent 2.3.x

2. Extract Files to your desktop etc.
This will give you following files;
AC Repack ID Search.zip
ADE-1.0.4.rar
AC Web Ultimate Repack.exe

3. Dubble click the AC Web Ultimate Repack, and install it into the path it's set to (C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack)

4. Goto C:\Programmer\World of Warcraft\Data, and check if you use enGB or enUS.

5. Now unpack the file, Map Extractor enGB or Map Extractor enUS, from C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack into C:\Programmer\World of Warcraft\.

6. Run ad.exe. (This will start a copying process, it may take a while..)

7. When the ad.exe is finish, you have to copy the folder maps, into C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack\Ascent.

8. Goto C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack\Ascent, and open the file called logonserver.conf with notepad.

9. Search for a line with following words,
<Client MinBuild = "6739"
MaxBuild = "7561">
And change it with theese:
<Client MinBuild = "7741"
MaxBuild = "7741">
Save it.

10. Goto C:\Programmer\World of Warcraft, and open realmlist.wtf with notepad and write set realmlist 127.0.0.1

11. You can now play, just open Control Panel.exe in C:\AC Web Ultimate Repack and push Launch Server.

12. You can now log into your WoW server with following infomations,
Username: admin - Password: admin



Note: The included files, ADE-1.0.4.rar and AC Repack ID Search.zip is an database editor for creating vendors, quest's, items and such, and the AC Repack is for searching for Items, skills etc..

I got to the very end where I launch controlpanel and apache 2 starts up. Then it says that MySQL isn't working...do I need to open up an MySQL server for that? I'm already letting it through my firewall (which is off btw) but its not working. Any ideas?

Yes, just follow the guide though and it will work perfect.

While I would not recommend to down repacks, to get the server up quick I guess it's an ok solution.

No, it doesn't. This is a windows application. If you're intrested in running Ascent from your Macintosh, I'd suggest you to visit the Ascentemu (AscentEmu.com - Ascent Emulator) forums, and search around there. I'm a hundred and one percent shure there'se a guide about this there.

For the post; bléh! You shouldn't use repacks! If you can't compile and set up Ascent be your own (ofcourse you can use tutorials for this), you're incompotent of running a server, and you should never think about this again.
