Opinions Mangos/Ascent/Repacks

I have set up both Mangos and Ascent servers and have a decent idea of how to run each. I haven't done much with repacks, but used my own compiles with varying degrees of success.

What is the best overall WoW emu? Mangoes, Ascent, something else all together or some specific repack? Which is the most complete as far as quests and instances working? Which has the most/best features?

I want to hear from EXPERIENCED emu admins/GMs and want specific reasons why you give the answers you chose.

hmm, i think ascent is best, but i gonna try mangos today so.

Ascent is the best, woWemu is the odlest and doesnt work with latest patches and mangos sucks...

is there realy any difference between ascent and mangos? i have played on mangos and ascent server. Both were petty good.

While Mangos is a good emulator, it is very resource demanding,
and requires allot more from the hoster to have a lag free server.
It is also very unstable, and has a slow startup.

Ascent requires little resources, giving even the worst internet a
chance. It is very stable, with many days uptime, with 1000+ players.
And its startup? Around 10 seconds.

Also, Ascent is at a much lower revision, when Ascent was at 2000,
and Mangos at 5000, Ascent already had all the functions Mangos had,
+ more.

Unless the Mangos devs really, and I mean REALLY improve their work,
just stick with Ascent.

Compare what they are able to do and what you can do with them and mangos is way better then wowemu...

and trust me i am a pure mangos hater... if i could i would say wowemu is way better then mangos... but that is just not true :-/

Not familiar with Kobold -- Can someone clue me in?

My biggest issue with Mangos is the community, for the most part the people there are asshats, rude, unhelpful, ect. The code is cleaner and there a couple of features it has that I wish Ascent had, but I must say I wouldn't use Mangos again unless this thread was overwhelmingly in support of it with strong evidence of its superiority.

Kobold is very very hard to set up.. lots of messing about, if your looking for simpler Ascents repacks are your thing..

and yes kobold is way harder to control/setup (not for newbies!!!) but Kobold is DAM nice ! In short period of time Kobold and Ascent will be competing hard !

anyhow i suggest you use ascent... ascent is easy to set up, much more stable then mangos and lot less lagg etc etc... use ascent

I've been looking at Tom's repack. And while it does look pretty spiffy, I'd like a general consensus on which repack is the best of the best and why?

i would say use ascent as there are many custom thigns out for it and its always being updated
