Try and remember to delete the .lib, .pdb, and .exp files - they are just build files, and arent needed to run the server.

It will quarter the size of your zip files.

No, I just delete them before uploading (because my upload speed sucks).

They are handy if you want to build scripts too, but if you have built ascent, and the newest scripts, you can just delete them afterwards.

If you need them back, just build your project again (not rebuild) and it brings them back from the object files.

sorry but does these come with SQL files? been searching long for a database which isnt a repack or a normal with only those starter files =/ i just might be a noob :P
