Ok, I'm not even sure if this is the right place for this post, the forum is confusing me.

Ok, I just recently heard about private servers, and I wanted to make one. But I have NO clue. I looked at the guides and was...well...lets just say VERY confused.

I'm wanting to make a private server with private quests, items, weapons, armor, ect. And also make a higher level cap. But I have no clue whatsoever what to do, I tried downloading some of the programs, but they turned up as WinRAR Archive files (Im not sure if that is right or not) and I couldn't do a thing with them.

As you may have guessed, I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, but only what I want to do. All I'm asking is if somebody could explain what to do and how to get me started. Thank you in advance.

Ok, for the rar files, download 7zip, its free, 7-Zip, and it installs in about 15 sec on a SLOW computer. now you can handle them, to unzip, right click the archive, there'll be a new option called 7zip, and let common sense direct you (extract here) or open archive for more advanced options.

Edit: At this point return to the Ascent guides (the best ones :P) and try again, if you have troubles along the way then, start a new forum and i'll try to help

You have to follow the intructions on the guides in order to make the private server, you can't just download a private server and then play on it.

Basic what to do to make a private server:

• Select what type you want, manGOS, Antrix, or Ascent (I like antrix the best)
• Find a guide on how to make that type
• Follow the instructions which including downloading the files(repacks), and changing the files to what you want.

Its not too confusing If you follow the guides step by step slowly.
I was confused too when I just started out, you'll understand all of this soon.
