This is done at his computer:
    Goto the "manage users" panel.
    Click on "add user"
Fill in the info, but at host, Put "%" without the quotes. (If that was not done correctly, you will not be able to connect. Its just a %, its not hard!)
Press OK, and select all the fields he wants you to be able to use.
(Just use all of them, its hard knowing what ones does what.)

    Done at your computer:
    Go to "connections".
Add a connection, with his IP, and your username/password.
Press OK, and if done correctly, you got control over his DB.

    Have fun!
FOR A MOMENT, NOTHING HAPPENED. THEN, AFTER A SECOND OR SO, NOTHING CONTINUED TO HAPPEN.

Re: Connecting to someone else's Navicat?

Me and friend had same problem connecting, but then I found we used internal ip (This only works on LAN), this may be the problem always use external ip when connect trough internet ( ofc not if you use Hamachi cause it uses new ip). I just wanted to share this info, it may help and cause I don't want this account deleted

Instead of using the "%" symbol (which will allow connection from ANYONE!) use his ISP IP. to get this open cmd (start > run > cmd) and then type tracert ip (replace ip with his external ip WhatIsMyIP.com) it should print out one or two lines, what you need is the bit after "tracing route to " it will probably end in .com now just add that instead of % :P
