Is It Possible To Play On a Private Server To a Lan Party?

Well, the title says it all, all the 4 computers are connected by cable. So, the question is.. how do you make them able to play together.. over Lan, (NOT over internet)

set your config files so the server realm list is your IP, have your friends set their realm lists to your computers IP and set yours to localhost(127.0.0.1)

Just set it up as though you'd be the only one connecting, and have all of the other computers set their realmlist to your INTERNAL IP address, that'll work.

Whats an internal ip?

Your Internal IP only matters through your LAN network, because it is basically your IP for your connection, and is bound to your network only. Your External IP is your global IP, and can be accessed without being in your network.

Internal IP Example: 192.168.1.105 (They almost always start with 192.168..)

External IP Example: 87.223.54.132, it can be almost anything.

yea what slyfox stated is confirmed i jsut did it with my old laptop and this one. make sure u set up the lan correctly too witheveryone in the same workgroup and such otherwise u'll encounter problems.

You can probably find your internal IP by typing "cmd" into "run" at the Start menu. Then, a ms_dos screen pops. Type ipconfig.
I think that should do it.

What do i do with my config files in my ascent folder? What do i change the ips in there to? 127.0.0.1?
