Starting a private server again

I've had some experience with older pre-bc repacks and used to have a Mangos server running on Windows XP, but I would like to try setting up a private server on Linux (Debian) and I'm pretty lost when it comes to the newer databases and repacks that are out there now. I want a fairly blizzlike BC server, and would like to know if I can use wine to run the .exe's used to start and run the servers, or if I have to do something else. Could someone point me in the right direction?

the right direction, is over at the guide sections, and pick one on how to make a server, follow that and cross ur fingers, ascent pwnz mangos in my opinon.

i would say that ascent is a good choice, and its much the same to set up a server now as it was before i beleve, atleast it rly easy to set up a ascent server now... how hard couldt it have been to set up a mangose server back then?
