3.3.5a Blizz-like

Im trying to creat a private server for me, my wife and some friends to play on, were not looking to import weapons/armor/npcs were just looking for staight up Blizzlike (though the option to add things wouldnt hurt).
Im kinda new to this whole private server thing, where should i start?

P.S. I did DL a Trinity repack but had too much garbage on it.

I'd use Pryd's repack, it's great and most likely the best one in mmowned.

No, pryd updated his sourceforge to include the 335 upgrade, but you have to compile it manually.
Some people helped me while I was new to the core so I'll quote em:

You can still download the repack heres the links to both files you need make sure to install V9 First then the Vmap support.

Now if your configs are done properly your core should start up perfecto and people can log on with the 3.35 client.

Note: as lorac said 3.35 is not as stable as the 3.33 and not everything will work properly.

The user name and password for mysql is located within the old config files. The user name and password should be root1 and ascent.

Make sure you have mysql running and in navicat click on connection then give it a name, leave whats already there alone and just put in the user name and password above.

open up your worldserver.conf and set the passwords for mysql

Should look something like this.

LoginDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;ascent;realmd"
WorldDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;ascent;world_blizz"
CharacterDatabaseInfo = "127.0.0.1;3306;root;ascent;char_blizz"

WorldServerPort = 8085
BindIP = "0.0.0.0"

Bind ip should stay 0.0.0.0

accounts should me made through the console, the password is encrypted in the database, so putting it there yourself wont work.
In console (server window): account create [username] [pass]

If you want to make your server public the easiest way I have found to do it is through https://www.no-ip.com/

Just make a free account and download the little program for it (dont remember if you download it before or after you create your host) then click on add new host on the website and it should take you to this page



Put in what ever name you want for the hostname and select what ever you want for the domain. The only other thing you need to do here is put in your computers IP which can be found by going into the command console and typing ipconfig.

Once that is all set up you need to locate the hosts file on your computer, on vista it can be found here C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. Open that with notepad and put in your computers IP and the hostname including the domain you choosed.

It should look like this:

127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost
69.225.107.98 randomservername.servegame.com

If you have a firewall or any kind of anti-virus or spyware program it may block you from saving it so you will either have to get admin rights or turn off those programs.

Almost done, in navicat you need to open the realmlist table located in the realmd database and set the address to your computers IP.

Finally open up the realmlist file in your wow folder and change it so it says "set realmlist randomservername.servegame.com" obviously put in your hostname and not the one I have here.
