What are the requirements for a WOW dedicated server?
Would 300 GB Disk space and 1000 GB Bandwidth be acceptable?

How many people are you planning on having? What kind of server are you going to run? Just asking what you need isn't going to help, we gotta know what you want to do with it. I have a private family server set up with crappy home broadband (20G cap) and a 40G HD running headless on less than a gig of RAM, and it works just perfect for the 20 players I manage.
My server specs:
* OS: Linux CentOS
* CPU: Intel® Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz
* RAM: 2 GB
* Storage: 2 x 120 GB hard drives
* Bandwidth: 500 GB per month
I'm targeting for 500-5000 people to be able to come in and play, but this is a long term goal. I'm actually planning to have a blizz server, fun server 10x and party server 100x.

Bump, can anyone answer my questions please?
You wont need a hd bigger than like 15gb lol. A wow server folder is no more than like 1gb at MAX.
If you need me you have my skype, if you don't have my skype then you don't need me.
Is everything else okay?
Would a virtual server be able to do it? Or is a dedicated server required?
VPS would do it fine. Unless you eman a virtual machine on your pc then no. A dedicated is always better tho
If you need me you have my skype, if you don't have my skype then you don't need me.
I'm definitely going to start off mine on:
* OS: Linux CentOS
* CPU: Intel® Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz
* RAM: 2 GB
* Storage: 2 x 120 GB hard drives
* Bandwidth: 500 GB per month
BUT I REALLY want to buy my own server and host it at home, BUT the line that I would get would suck at 10 MBS unmetered.
Sure, so your OS fits on that to? What about any programs you need to install? What about updates? What about database storage.
I use 2x250GB ES drives RAID0, image backup to a 500GB non ES drive. 1TB for Storage/old backups.
However note: I play with more than just WoW servers.
he said 5000 players uh... should go with AMD x6 Phonem 6 GB DDr3, 10Mb upload is about right the main thing u got know is its about upload speed not download
* OS: Linux CentOS
* CPU: Intel® Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz
* RAM: 2 GB
* Storage: 2 x 120 GB hard drives
* Bandwidth: 500 GB per month
Trinity Core
100x XP/low drop rate
that's what i've come up with so far
lol yea, 1 gb is plenty.
500gb ? lol
Has anybody here tried buying a server from a store and hosting them at home? I want to know all about that, is there a guide I can read somewhere?
From what I understand, I don't even need to buy a server, I can just buy a $500-1000 HOME PC and that would work great. Am I right?
My NUMBER ONE PROBLEM IS GETTING A DEDICATED LINE, HOW MUCH DOES A 10 MB DEDICATED LINE EVEN COST?
