    Pre-TBC Servers

Do THAT many people really want Pre-TBC back?

I heard that many people do, I just want to get an idea of whether it's worth starting up a project regardless of how much work will be needed to develop a as blizzlike as possible Pre-TBC server.

    Thanksss,
    Tom.

    Hey Tom!

Welcome to MMOwned. Anyways, from my experience, people like Blizzlike server's with a little bit of a change to them. But, they almost always love the new content. So, I would stick to WoTLK.

Any who, what kind of server were you thinking of runnin'?

Hey, thanks for the friendly reply.

I'm not new to MMOwned though, been here for a long time but I have never been really active, and this is a new account to start over. :P

I know that people like the latest patch private servers, infact, I believe the majority of private server players(?) play on the latest patch servers, however I have been looking into Pre-TBC servers although I didn't get lots of information, I did get some.

I looked at other Pre-TBC servers, the bigger ones, they do have quite a population, and I have heard several times that many people would like to join a good Pre-TBC server, from people on retail, to people from emukation.

I much prefer old classic WoW, and personally think that the expansions may have made a few good additions to the game, but as a whole, I think they ruined the game. This opinion has motivated me to try and get something good going...

And so I asked if many people truely want to play Pre-TBC servers, and if I get enough answers, then I will probably try and start something. People will probably be like "he's a noob, he won't get anywhere with it", but I won't let them take me down. :P

Sorry for going on, here's a short but brief answer to your question:
I plan on starting off with a Blizzlike Pre-TBC server IF enough people think it is worth it and there are enough people.

I know it's not as simple as compiling a core, installing a database (etc) and then playing. It's a big project, and if I think it could be successful, then I will give it a go. I'm not in a rush so I can spend lots of time to perfect each step that is needed to take to complete the project.

Btw, I chose Blizzlike Pre-TBC because I don't want to start off with a custom server, I know people want instnant 60 raidi/pvp realms, but I know there are others who want a Blizzlike realm. Ofcourse, later on, there may be more realms, that question will be answered by the community though, as I wouldn't want to release something nobody wants, if the server is successful and develops a community that is.

That's all I have to say really. :P

I play on a pre-tbc server that has 200-250 players at the peak.

I would love a pre TBC server that WASNT 1.12. I dont wanna see naxx as the end game, I want to see AQ or even BWL as the end game. Im with the TC that I would spend ALOT of time working on a server like that to make it just right.

Actually there is one server I just got done playing on that matches what you want. ClassicWoW(google it) has quite a lot of quests scripted and bosses are either fully or partially scripted. Daily raiding is done by 200+ mainly europeans with maybe 50-100 american players, and AQ40 is the top raiding content available. BWL/MC get run 30+ times a day depending on whos on. Problem is it's instant 60, really good blue gears buyable, and everyone is in full purp epics within 1 week of playing a character unless you're awful at rolling. Lots of 25+ man raids.

There's apparently a few other servers that are completely blizzlike and they're growing in size as well. Personally to the OP I recommend getting in touch with the developers on the other 4-8 pre-TBC servers and see if you can help them out. Then again I'm biased against there being like 80 servers when there's maybe a thousand or two at max people wanting to play this type of content.

    Re: Pre-TBC Servers

I'm curious as to these preTBC servers, when I started playing retail, I didn't have enough time to ding 60 nor any real PVPing to get any titles (I started playing casually around lunar feet before TBC came out)

I think that's part of the appeal for a whole generation of WoW players. I noticed on Cwow that a lot of people had current retail accounts and wanted to see what raiding was like in the past.

Hopefully someone can correct me if I'm wrong but another strong point it seems like the emu source is way more stable and more abilities/talents/mob scripts work compared to say a 3.0+ private server.
