Are Ascent and Mangoes still alive and recently updated?

The public version of Ascent is dead and not developed, although there are a few private cores that use it and have kept it up to date very well.

Mangos is still going publicly and very well, although trinity (a fork of mangos) is considered to be the better option of the two.
