[WARNING!] EMU Servers

This is just a warning for EMU server operators. Blizzard has started filing lawsuits on operators and anyone else that they find that is contributing to operating the servers. They recently filed a lawsuit on scapegaming. Just wanted to let everyone know this and hope you are aware of the copyrights and laws you are breaking when you create these.

Looks like Blizzard is suing somebody else over hosting emulated servers. I've only skimmed the complaint, so no big analysis here, other than it looks unfun. Copyright, DMCA, interference, breach of contract (??), etc.

They've filed against Alyson Reeves and 5 other does, probably forum folks. Looks like some more solid billing for SNR - let's hope Alyson doesn't want to settle early. Oh wait, it doesn't matter. Punch that clock, boys!

I've stored a copy of the complaint on the Glider server. I'm pretty sure it's public record and thus not infringing. For a good time, read below.

This is the 2nd Time Scape Gaming has been sued.

The first case Scape Gaming actually won.

Alyson Reeves is getting sued and she already did kinda left Scape Gaming. While 2bit is taking over

Anyway I still play there with all my 21 toons XD

Blizzard is not gonna sue all the private servers, Scape Gaming (WoW Scape) was the one with the biggest community and by now not anymore but that's another story, Scape Gaming is a treat to Blizzard for having so many players playing for free and Blizzard doesn't receive money for it.

New Expansion set? = WOTLK = new Copyright, in this case making it Blizzard possible to sure Scape Gaming just again.

I really wish everytime Blizzard goes after Scape that everyone would stop these rumors of people talking out their arse about going after all servers. They target scape because at one point they made almost as much money as all other private servers combined and had 20k+ online. It would cost Blizzard 100's of millions to go after every server.. It would cost a days pay of one programmer, if that even.. to embed realmlist into the game client.

K I want to make one thing clear. I don't know why Epic would ask if they would sue EVERY private server , considering theres thousands out there it makes no sense and its virtually impossible.

#2 , often times authorities pursue the big giants to set an example for the other ones. In this case they want to send out a message to other private server owners.

Just keep runningg your servers nothing will happen to you , scapegaming will be our shield and dnt worry theyre loaded with money for lawyers

They sued them because they were using the donations for personal use, EG buying a PS3, ect.
