[Project] WPE Banned Realtime Blackhole List

I am developing a RBL (Realtime Blackhole List) Project for those banned for using WPE Pro. Currently seeking others for ideas or who would like to help in the project.

The concept I have come up with so far is ascent_logon would connect to two databases on start up. First database would be your private db. Your accounts and and local bans of hackers and douchbags. It would then also connect to the RBL database to block those banned for using WPE on any server registered in the project. Think of the impact this could have on WPE users if the whole community pulled together for this!

Some of the things that will need to be created would be logon written to make this happen. Ways to add new IP's to the BL in real time. An appeal system if your found to be blacklisted to help prevent abuse of this and a comity to approve or deny blacklisted appeals.

mm sounds honest enough but the thing is ... all they have to do is change their ip.

Yes that is true Remus. But about 90% of the accounts we shut down for item duping never return on another IP. I have even left accounts open and only ip banned to test this theory.

Plus after a few IP's maybe they will see they are getting screwed across the boards and play honest. Some will, some won't. I have returned appeals and some never do it again as they learned they got caught once others will have 10 more items in 5 minutes.

This is no way to make it stop totally, but more a preventive measure in reducing the abuse.

true, hopefully this gets alot more support. i know i dont want my server being exploited when it goes live. once a working version is ready id be glad to use it.

This reminds me alot of WC3 tft banlist program. And I think this can have a great impact on hackers etc.

But as there are so many server out there, this can also be used on another way, ban so many players as possible without reason. And they could just lie that the people that they have banned are using WPE, right?

Someone would ban 127.0.0.1 for WPE Hacking :P I think its not worth it.

yes sure, but bans would be monitored. You add 3000 new IP's in a day it is going to flag you. Also there will be a counsel for appeals. If too many of your bans are over ruled, you could of course still use the RBL, you would just no longer be able to submit to it.
