[Help] Trying to help a friend with Server/Sunwell

    Hello,

Shortly before 2.4 a friend of mine started experimenting with running an Ascent server, just for a handful of rl friends. Everything worked great btw. Then 2.4 comes out and since a couple of use still play retail, we couldn't log onto his server for fun until he updated. Well he did update, but apologies for not knowing what he did, what repack he used etc, but it was very basic. The Isle of Quel'Danas is there, but you have to .worldport to it. It's completely unspawned as well. I believe he has to unpack his maps or something to get the Isle to work.

I want to help him with it, try to keep him up to date, he's much busier than I am I've followed these forums off and on for over a month. At the least I want to get Sunwell Plateau and MGT working. For now I don't even need spawns, I just want to zone in and walk around, heh. I played with wowmodelviewer and got some coordinates for the instances but if I try to worldport there is says "Transfer Aborted: Instance Not Found" after briefly flashing the correct loadscreens I'm used to seeing on retail. I'm confused as to how you can .worldport to the Isle but not those 2 instances. Is that something missing in his database? He admitted he's running an old database.

In short I guess I was wondering if any of you knew how to solve that problem and get into Sunwell/MgT. Would it just be easier to keep following and reading these forums and suggest to him one of the well received repacks ppl have released here? I am going to suggest he try the ABD SVN, but I don't think that will solve the zoning in problem. Or will it?

Apologies again for probably very noob questions, and for rambling. Thanks in advance for even reading

    WIPE HIS SERVER !

Download the latest ascent trunk, compile it by yourself, stop using crappy repacks -.-
make new sql db, execute ABD & 2.4 Char DB into your new sql datebase, on whatever you are using.

Then search the net for a decent Sunwell release to plug into your server.

I use Plexor's release, which i think is the best.. you can find it by searching the forum for something like " [Share] Quel'Danas Spawned "

Easy way to extract it, and a nice guide to help you with the fixes you need to do by yourself.
