wotlk spells in aplha servers

here is a very quick guide to help people who want to play with some of the new spells from the wotlk alpha client dbcs in their sandbox server.

things you will need:

DBC Tool by TRX
3.0.1 client
2.4.2 client (or dbcs)
dbc2csv
word pad or excel

ok first you need to extract the 3.0.1 dbcs from your client (I used enUS for mine). This MUST be done with MPQE in order to keep the version correct.

once that has been completed do the same for the 2.4.2 client if you don't already have them.

convert your 3.0.1 dbcs to csv files with dbc2csv. (this will allow you to search for spells by name since wowhead and wowdb do not have the new spells yet)

open up your 3.0.1 spell.dbc.Csv file with word pad or excel (notepad is messy) do a search for your spell and write down the first number in the column (this is the spell id)

next go into DBC Tool and open up the spell.dbc file from your 3.0.1 folder.
scroll down until you find the spell id in column 0 that matches what you're looking for. click the row to select it. go to the top where it says export, other, export selected line to csv. save the file.

now do the same thing as above but for the 2.4.2 spell.dbc (these you can look up on wowhead to find the spell id)

open both csv files and copy one into the other.

you should now have two rows resembling each other very closely. simply make sure that the columns line up. (they should both have 0s in the exact same rows, and other numbers in the same rows).

once you've completed that step go back into your dbc tool (you should still have the 2.4.2 spell.dbc file open) click the plus icon to add a new row.
starting at column 0, fill in every column with the fields listed in your now personally edited csv file for that given spell. once you've finished all the rows simply save and exit.

congratulations you now have an unreleased spell working on your server :-P
