1. Not worth the switch yet IMO.
2. If you are running the logonserver and world server on the same machine
- metehanCode:<LogonServer RemotePassword = "XXXXXX" AllowedIPs = "127.0.0.0/24" AllowedModIPs = "127.0.0.0/24">
127.0.0.1/24 will allow all IP's and PC's to connect to your ascent so the players can play.
If you need me you have my skype, if you don't have my skype then you don't need me.
No, 127.0.0.1/24 is 127.0.0.XXX
Which if you have changed your hosts file it will register with your dynamic dns which should make it public. No, 127.0.0.1/24 is 127.0.0.XXX
If you need me you have my skype, if you don't have my skype then you don't need me.
127.0.0.1/24 will allow your LOCAL server to connect to itself. Thats it. Your hosts file has NOTHING ZERO ZILCH to do with "public" in any way.
I have told people to put 127.0.0.1/24 and it has made their server public fine for them, same goes for my server both the one on my computer and on the dedicated.
If you need me you have my skype, if you don't have my skype then you don't need me.
Then perhaps the CIDR parsing should be corrected as 127.0.0.1/24 is not a global/public definition.
That got off-topic fast.
OpenAscent seems to be just as stable as the last public revision of Ascent from Burlex's SVN. All LUA and C++ scripts have compiled and functioned just as they always have.
It even has support from the Ascent Blizzlike Database team, so all hope isn't lost.
Since, Ascentemu.com has been taken down, I believe the OpenAscent will be the best place to look for patches and updates for Ascent and OpenAscent users.
