Hack/modify zoning to other instances?

How does the porting from one instance to another actully work, and is it possible to hack this somehow?

I was thinking of how boats and zepelins takes you from one instance to another... How does this work and can't you modify this somehow so you don't need the boat:confused:.. Aka I can just zone from kalimdor to EK whenever I want :/ ?
